Welcome to Loudoun County's Family Friendly Musical Theater!
Love, laughter, and a twist on the classic fairytale! Join us for Once Upon a Mattress, a hilarious adventure filled with enchanting songs, quirky characters, and royal surprises.
Choose from two audition sessions:
You do not need to make an appointment to audition. Just show up sometime during the audition sessions. Optionally, please send a note to thepickwickplayers@gmail.com or use SignUpGenius to let us know which audition session you plan to attend to help us keep track of our numbers.
If you are not available for either audition session, you may send a video to: thepickwickplayers@gmail.com containing your monologue and singing audition by February 7.
All roles are open for actors, dancers and singers ages 13 and older. There are great parts for teens, young adults, and older adults. Children younger than 13 are not invited to audition for this show. All roles are singing roles except for the part of the King, which does not sing and only speaks one line as he is mute.
Please be aware that there is a participation fee for each performer in every Pickwick show.
Please come prepared with a 1-minute memorized monologue from another Broadway musical or movie, in a similar style. Also be prepared to sing 16 measures of an upbeat song from a different Broadway musical or Disney movie that demonstrates your ability to sing. You may bring your own accompaniment on your phone to sing to or you may sing a cappella (without accompaniment).
Auditions will be held in small groups of 6-10 people. In addition to presenting your monologue and singing for the directors, you will be asked to read lines from the actual show that will be given to you at the audition.
There will also be a short movement audition to see how well you can pick up basic dance steps and how well you move on stage. Come with comfortable shoes for easy movement.
The audition process should last about an hour. Parents are not invited into the audition room itself but are welcome to bring their children and fill out the required paperwork.
You will be asked to fill out an audition form when you arrive. Your picture will then be taken and you will be given a number for the order in which you will audition.
